About GHS Connections

Guilford High School Connections is an independent parent volunteer organization which supports the GHS students and families, teachers, and staff through a variety of programs. Parents who wish to join GHS Connections are asked to contribute annual dues which allows GHS Connections to offer the following support to the GHS community:

  • Providing funds for and organizing more interactions between GHS and the community - ie., career fairs, local speakers, connections with local businesses and nonprofits.

  • Financial donations to programs which benefit GHS students - ie., snacks on testing days, Project Graduation, GFFE Spelling Bee, Kindness Campaign.

  • Coordinating and organizing teacher and staff appreciation events such as our Back to School Luncheon, Holiday Luncheon and Teacher/Staff Appreciation Breakfast.

GHS Connections Programs: Here are some of the things we do

Communication – Members are asked to register and create an account with their contact information to allow GHS Connections to inform them of upcoming events/programs/meetings and other relevant information.  Information is filtered through the chairpersons and, if deemed appropriate for the organization, sent out to the members. Parent volunteers are responsible for maintaining our member database from which we will: send emails, add new members, and delete people who do not wish to be contacted. We are now registering members, taking dues contributions, and sending emails all through our  Membership Toolkit website.

Community Connection – This new direction for our program aims to help connect students with businesses and nonprofits in our community through career fairs, speakers, and more.

Financial Support of GHS Students – GHS Connections funds a variety of things which directly support our students, including but not limited to: supplying funds to the administration to supply snacks to students during testing days, student council campaigns to raise awareness of bullying and spread kindness, etc.  All donations are required to directly benefit students.

Teacher/Staff Support events – Throughout the year, GHS Connections organizes events that support our teachers and staff.  Three times a year, parents can volunteer through Connections to show the teachers/staff their appreciation through donations of both their time and/or sending in food and supplies. Throughout the year, GHS Connections also provides breakfast/lunches for the teachers and staff. The chairpersons and building principal coordinate the timing and frequency of these events.
